Latitude

The tropics are a band of latitude — the warmest line on the map. Latitude is drawn from it. Monstera leaves, palm fronds, a flamingo mid-step. Green agate the colour of deep shade, freshwater pearls the colour of light on water. The shapes of somewhere warm — cast in gold, made light enough to live in. Not saved for the trip.
